About Darlene Castro-Easterling

About Darlene Castro-Easterling

FOLLOW YOUR PASSION is Darlene's mantra.    Her passion is movement, and she has been following it since her first dance class at five years of age. She danced professionally before going into teaching, her true calling.

Darlene has been teaching movement for decades, whether it be dance, group exercise, or pilates. She owned a dance and exercise studio for 20 years.  She founded and managed a nonprofit dance company for teenagers for 14 years. Darlene was the manager and instructor at Reach Pilates Studio in Palo Alto for 15 years before moving to HMB.

Darlene currently continues to tap dance whenever possible.

Darlene is thrilled to bring her pilates practice to El Granada/Half Moon Bay.  She has met so many friendly people and enjoys the small-town feel of Main Street.

Her favorite things to do are hear, see, and smell the ocean and go for long walks on the beach.

Classically Trained

Classically Trained

Darlene is a classically trained Pilates instructor. She has been teaching Pilates since 2000.  She holds two certifications one from Core Pilates NYC and one with Carol Appel Pilates.  Combined they total a 600 hour nationally recognized pilates certification. In the last 6 years Darlene has added teacher training to her resume as well.

Personal Life

Personal Life

Half Moon Bay is a very favorite place of both her and husband, Bill, who are now living on the coast.  Her mom, Clara, was born in HMB in 1906 and Darlene has spent lots of time here as a child.  Their son, Bret Easterling, who is a professional dancer and professor of Dance at USC is her greatest inspiration.  In her free time, Darlene enjoys teaching, sunsets, tap dance, watching Bret perform, and long walks on the beach .
